The ‘Poems as Performance’ in this room are part of our current special exhibition, Is This a Poem? In these four live works, the poem is the performance itself. Emma Bennet’s ‘What Matter’ is speech on themes of work, resistance and an embarrassed longing for things soft. In ‘Exposing Doubt’ by Ella de Burca, anxiety and stage fright are scripted into the work. In James King’s ‘Untitled’, speech sounds blend into a performance involving a typewriter. And in ‘Dublin Onion’ by CAH-44, the performance, featuring the poet Raven, is constructed with the sounds of the letters D-U-B-L-I-N.
